Salanda D Salanda is a LARGE (16.1+hds) 4 year old Andalusian mare. She is out of the famous Quizas III (Bred by Cardenas and known for producing some of the best offspring in the US) and by Granadino XI (One of the only sons on Leviton that is still alive in the US). In fact, Granadino will be 30 years old this year and is gracing the cover of the 2008 Calendar "Andalusians" by Bob Langrish. Salanda is a full sister to Imperioso D 16.2 hds (Owned and ridden by Sherry Martin of Martin Farm). Salanda's pedigree reads like a who's who from this famous breeder in Spain. Quiza III by Vasallo (Spanish Champion of Madrid, Supreme champion in Jerez and the highest points in the Book of Merits), Leviton (the most highly regarded Military Stallion of Spain and the producer of more PRE champions than any other stallion to date), Agent (this highly regarded stallion was used as a model for the PRE horse with his expressive elastic movement), Bilbaino III (a Terry stallion and herd sire of Yeguada Cardenas and sire of Vasallo). Today's Olympic and World Equestrian Games PRE horses hale from one or more of these influential stallions. Salanda is the sweetest mare that I have had the pleasure to meet. She is the best of this breed and I am very lucky to have her here. Salanda will wait at the fence for Quizas to catch up to the herd before she will go out to graze or drink water. She always knows where the foals are and will be seen standing over two of them as they nap with their moms far away, or even in different pastures. What a FABULOUS mother. Salanda had a beautiful colt and is the best mother I have ever seen. Thanks Salanda for such a great colt! See him on the our foals page.
